This meteorite, found in 2023 in Mauritania, belongs to a category of achondrites called HED originating from the asteroid Vesta, in this case it is a eucrite. Vesta is the second heaviest asteroid (planet) in the solar system and under favorable circumstances can be seen from Earth with the naked eye.
Its complex structure speaks of the impacts that shaped Vesta. It contains fragments of original rock embedded in crystallized melt, revealing the dramatic history of this body.
