The Djoua 001 meteorite is a rare aubrite – a light achondrite with a brecciated structure. Its origin remains unclear, but some scientists believe it may have come from Mercury.
It is composed of large crystals of enstatite, olivine, metallic nickel and troilite, suggesting a magmatic origin under extreme conditions. Scientists describe the place of its formation as a "magma sea". Its secrets could be elucidated by the BepiColombo probe heading to Mercury.
