Josef Šíma (1891–1971, Czech Republic/France) was a Czech-French painter associated with poetic Surrealism. His works combined landscapes, dream visions, and spiritual symbolism. Šíma sought a universal language of light and inner experience in art. As part of the Parisian avant-garde, he shaped European modernism with a sensitive, mystical visual language.
